Musical Theater Tap Classes:

Level I: Ages  6-10 yrs

  • Designed to develop rhythm, style and sound for the beginning to intermediate student.
  • Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Broadway to Rhythm tap.
  • Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knee and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement.
  • The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun.
  • In Studio 15-20 min Demo in December: 10-15 mins of technique (class combinations), and one musical theatre dance
  • End-of-Year session culminates in a showcase of hits from Broadway’s finest shows in May


Level I/II: PreT/Teen (Ages 9 + up)

  • This technique class is for intermediate to advanced students
  • Will focus on faster and more intricate footwork.
  •  The dancer at this level will develop speed, clarity, dynamics, and the ability to execute to complex rhythmic combinations.
  • Students will put the fundamentals to work by learning new steps, rhythms, patterns, and combinations.
  • Must be invited by teacher- or can try class (if student is Intermediate/ advanced level) to be assessed by teacher.
  • In Studio 15-20 min Demo in December: 10-15 mins of technique (class combinations), and one musical theatre dance
  • End-of-Year session culminates in a showcase of hits from Broadway’s finest shows in May

MUSICAL THEATER DANCE CLASSES

Dance Classes Ages 6-10 yrs

Musical Theater Ballet Classes: 

Level I/II: Pre T/Teen (Ages 9 + up)

  • Ballet vocabulary and etiquette are focuses in this class
  • Body alignment and muscle awareness, positions of the arms, direction of the body and increased movement vocabulary
  • Proper extension of the legs and shape of the feet, developing movement sequences, port de bras and balance are all key focuses of this technique and performance class.
  • Character development and body language are developed in dance combinations taught during class.
  • In Studio 15-20 min Demo in December: 10-15 mins of technique (class combinations), and one musical theatre dance
  • End-of-Year session culminates in a showcase of hits from Broadway’s finest shows​ in May


Level II/III: PreT/Teen (Ages 9 +up)

  • Designed for the intermediate to advanced dancer
  • Incorporates technique and interpretation of all styles of ballet movement seen in Broadway shows.
  • Focus on picking up choreography faster, on choreographic details (placement of fingers, arms, feet, head, etc), and characterization through movement.
  • Original choreography and vocals from particular shows will also be taught, enhancing not only the students dance skill, but vocal capacity as well.
  • This is a great class for those interested in improving their dance skills in Musical Theatre.
  • Ballet vocabulary and etiquette are focuses in this class

Dance Classes Ages Teen/Adult yrs

Musical Theater Jazz Classes: 
Level I: Ages 6-9 yrs

  • Beg. to Int.dancer that explores the world of acting and dancing by learning a compilation of the different dance styles seen on Broadway.
  • Fundamental jazz steps and basic vocabulary through across the floor exercises and simple combinations
  • Students learn character-based song interpretation and choreography as they rehearse musical numbers from some of Broadway's best musicals.
  • In Studio 15-20 min Demo in December: 10-15 mins of technique (class combinations), and one musical theatre dance
  • End-of-Year session culminates in a showcase of hits from Broadway’s finest shows​ last weekend in May


Star Kids Pop Song/Video: Age 6-10 yrs

  • Basic jazz dance technique, basic vocal technique, focus on choreography and songs from hit artists like Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Taylor Swift and more


Broadway Choreography Series: Teen/Adult (12 +)

  • Learn original and new choreography from Bob Fosse (Chicago), Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton), Susan Stroman (Oklahoma), Jerome Robbins (West Side Story), and more

  • End-of-Year session culminates in a showcase of hits from Broadway’s finest shows last weekend in May​
