Thanksgiving 2010
POPS is heavily invested in the communities in which we perform and the communities where our performers come from. Every POPS performer understands the need to give back to the community both individually and as a performing company.
POPS has partnered with Hermosa Beach-based Hope in Action (Hope Chapel's Food Bank) to help feed needy families throughout the area. Hope In Action reaches out to the poor, hungry, homeless, abused, addicted and broken hearted in our community. Hope Chapel offers this necessity FREE to anyone who lives in Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, Lawndale, Inglewood, Harbor City, Lomita, Harbor Gateway and Gardena.
Each POPS show is accompanied by collection and fund raising events to benefit Hope in Action, and both POPS members and show attendees are encouraged to participate.
At the performances of POPS' original show "Day One" in June 2009, three truckloads of food and clothing were gathered, sorted, packed and delivered to Hope Chapel. That effort has continuing with every POPS production. A terrific article that appeared in The Daily Breeze about Hope In Action may be downloaded here (PDF format).
POPS is always happy to perform at area schools, fairs, and more. One of our favorite venues is the Manhattan Beach Old Hometown Fair.
For the 2009 holiday season, we sent a group of dancers and singers to participate in the Hermosa Beach Tree Lighting. The same group entertained residents at the Sunrise Retirement Home and visitors to Hope Chapel, both in Hermosa Beach during the 2009 Christmas season. In 2010 we toured Hope in Action and gathered hundreds of pounds of food for their efforts.
