Welcome to POPS!

PUTTIN’ ON PRODUCTIONS (‘POPS’) is a premiere nonprofit production company founded in June 2007 to introduce youth to the performing arts. Our goal is to provide excellent family entertainment while creating a comprehensive and exciting production experience for our students.POPs is the only theatre company in the South Bay to offers separate divisions for all ages to experience: Our Mini POPs Division (5-9 yrs), Rising Stars Division (9-13 yrs), and Mainstage Players Division (14-20 yrs). Those with a true desire to perform are encouraged to audition regardless of prior experience. Formed in 2006, the company has grown dramatically and now features a multifaceted and eclectic group of performers, bringing together a wide variety of skills woven into a tapestry of dance, drama, and music.

OUR PRODUCTIONS

We select productions that are both fun and challenging for our students. We encourage our kids to test their limits and challenge themselves to achieve their maximum potential. POPs supports each student every step of the way with training and feedback. Space in POPS is strictly limited to maintain an optimal student-to-teacher ratio. As a training company, we believe all students should be afforded the opportunity to grow and achieve their optimal results. POPS offers MORE musical theatre performance opportunities for our students:

For our Fall Season of 2011/2012, our Mini POPs (ages 5-10) and Rising Stars (ages 10-13) divisions are celebrating POPs' 5th year anniversary by performing two different and unique productions of our very first show, T he Wiz! Our Mainstage Players division (ages 14 -20) will be performing You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown! This year brought a new division to POPs- our Community Players Division! Fun for all ages, families and community members enjoyed the timeless holiday classic musical, White Christmas!

OUR PEOPLE

POPS brings together an extraordinary array of talent to work with children. Unlike many companies, our principals are directly involved with all aspects of production and are always accessible to parents. We have a permanent staff of talented professionals and we add contracted experts for each production as required. Click here to see biographies of our founders and directors.

POPS recognizes and embraces its obligations to be a good member of the community, and actively engages in community outreach programs. We collect food for Hope In Action, a Hermosa Beach based foodbank, at every show.

OUR SCHEDULE and FACILITIES

Rehearsals are typically held every Sunday and some Wednesdays. For our older group, weekly rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 to 5:00pm at the Hermosa School of Dance and Music, 1151 Aviation Blvd., Hermosa Beach. The performers at Wednesday rehearsals changes from week to week depending on where the production is focused at that particular time. Attendance information is always posted on the appropriate Production Page. For our younger groups, rehearsals are held at the Hermosa Beach Community Center at the corner of Pier Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway in Hermosa Beach. Our Community Players also rehearse at the Hermosa Community Center on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
